Hub rules

Code of Conduct & Rules

Welcome to the Hub! To keep our space productive, safe and fair for everyone, all members and visitors must follow these guidelines.

Identification & check-in

  • Student ID required: a valid high school or university ID (or an active student portal login) must be shown at check-in to get student rates.
  • Pass hours: each pass is valid only for its listed hours. High school after-school passes are valid from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

Capacity & seating

  • Maximum capacity: the hub seats 32 people at any one time, to keep the space quiet and comfortable and the Wi-Fi fast.
  • First come, first served: desk space cannot be saved or reserved with personal items for longer than 15 minutes.

Food, drinks & hardware care

  • No outside food or meals: eating in the main study and computer areas is not allowed, to protect equipment and keep the space clean.
  • Covered drinks only: only water or drinks in sealed, spill-proof bottles or containers are allowed near desks and electronics.
  • Respect the tech: treat all hub devices, monitors, keyboards and cables with care. Report any hardware problem to staff straight away.
  • Damage: if you break a hub device, you must pay its full price. You can pay in full, by payment plan, or in another way agreed with hub staff.

Acceptable internet & device use

  • No inappropriate content: browsing, streaming or showing vulgar, explicit, offensive or inappropriate social media or web content is not allowed on hub networks and devices.
  • Fair bandwidth use: heavy personal downloads (torrenting, large file sharing, or installing unauthorised software) are monitored and restricted.

Noise & courtesy

  • Headphones required: audio from devices, video lectures, music or streams must be listened to with headphones at all times.
  • Keep it quiet: keep conversations low. Take phone calls outside or in the designated common areas.

Damage is paid forBroken devices must be paid for at full price, in full, by payment plan or another agreed way.

Breaking the rulesFailure to follow these rules will result in an indefinite ban from the hub.
